Deb Durant – Associate ConsultantDeb Durant
Deb is an independent consultant and change agent working predominantly in the cultural and creative industries and is particularly interested in programmes that promote diversity and cultural equity. She has been the Senior Evaluator of a £5 million programme of work funded under the European Social Fund EQUAL programme which sought to tackle discrimination and promote diversity in the creative industries.

Other current projects include undertaking research and evaluation of an Arts Council England programme called Maximise looking at the impact on audience development for BME art across the country; and evaluating a £2 million programme called Inclusion Through Media - a partnership programme of film makers and broadcasters that use participatory media to create new opportunities for marginalised people. She is also currently leading on workplace learning research for the Arts Council's Cultural Leadership programme which seeks to develop leaders from a wide range of backgrounds, ensuring that the talent pool available in our rich and diverse culture is fully nurtured. Other clients have included Tate Modern, the DfES, Youth Culture Television, the Arts Council and many small and medium scale cultural organisations.

Prior to self employment, Deb has enjoyed a varied career in the creative industries as Director of Arts Centres, Education Officer, set painter, DJ, rock promoter, musician, training manager, and as Board member of a number of organisations....her career has spanned both production and organisational development.

She has worked with the award winning Hull Truck Theatre, United International Pictures on a Bond and Indiana Jones movie, for Lee Evans Company Little Mo Films and was for seven years the Training and Development Manager at the Independent Theatre Council. Deb also headed up the Arts and Cultural Unit of a regeneration agency for almost three years, before commencing study for her Masters degree in Change Agent Skills and Strategies. Deb is also a Board member of Total Theatre Network, the national development agency for physical theatre and circus, and a member of the Voting Academy for the Brit Awards.

In her free time Deb loves nothing more than to walk by the sea or in the woods with her lovely lurcher, Basil.
